Beer, the Perfect Partner for Rocket Hop...

Beer, the Perfect Partner for Rocket Hop...

Something you should know

Our drink began by experimenting with a unique process that converted a high-alcohol brewed beer base extract, which could then be fortified and aged with pure grain alcohol. What in Europe would be considered a schnapps.

As you know, Rocket Hop is a unique product that is difficult to define and place in a specific alcohol-based category. In other words, one of a kind. The brewing process begins as a highly concentrated beer-based formula, which is then infused with the addition of select distilled aroma hops. The product is then fortified with an all-natural grain alcohol bringing it up to 40% alc/vol.

The product is aged for 90 days followed by a sophisticated cross-flow ceramic filtration process before packaging. The color is light amber and can be served at room temperature, chilled, or mixed with a cold beer. Rocket Hop pairs exceptionally well with any style of beer.

Therefore, here we will teach you how to prepare your own beer so that you can later combine it with Rocket Hop and give it the flavor that will take you high.

How to brew beer, step by step

Let's imagine that we already have in our possession all the ingredients we need (in addition, barley, hops, yeast, sugar and water). So now it's time to get down to business:

  1. Germinate barley grains. It is the first step. To do this, it is necessary to start the germination of barley seeds, and then interrupt it. Too easy. You only need to soak them for two days. Afterward, they are taken out and covered with a towel for another five days. They have to stabilize a room temperature. The sprouts that have sprung up should have the same length as the grain itself.
  2. Stop the germination of barley grains. To do this, it is necessary to introduce these grains into the oven. You have to select between 150º C and 250º C for 10-60 minutes. The temperature and time you select will determine the type of craft beer you will obtain (blonde and mild lager type, toasted and strong Guinness type, etc.). This step and the previous one is what is known as “malting the barley”.
  3. Malt mash. “Malta” is the name given to barley grains once they have germinated and been roasted in the oven. The next step is to crush them using a blender and mix them with mineral water (it must not have chlorine) at between 62ºC and 72ºC. No more no less. So use a thermometer to make sure. We must stir constantly for an hour and a half. This causes the starch to be converted into fermentable sugars.
  4. Once that time has elapsed, it is time to filter the liquid to eliminate solid waste (bagasse) and keep only the liquid (must). To do this it is necessary to have a lauter tun. After passing the drink through it three times we will obtain the malt extract.
  5. Flavor and flavor. This process is carried out by hops, which must be added to the filtered wort at this point in the process. Of course, before we must dilute it in hot water. Then, once both elements are mixed, they must be boiled for two hours, adding little by little water to compensate for evaporation.
  6. Here the miracle that turns the must into beer takes place. To do this, you need to add 1 gram of yeast to the must. We must let it act for two weeks in a dark and cool place at a temperature between 18ºC and 22ºC if we want to obtain an ale (if we are preparing lager-type beers, between 7ºC and 13ºC). The container must be covered to avoid contamination by bacteria but not sealed to prevent the accumulation of carbon dioxide.
  7. Bottling and carbonation. After those two weeks, it is time to bottle. Just before, you have to add 6 grams of sugar for every liter of beer. This ingredient, when reacting with the yeast, will generate carbon dioxide and, with it, the bubbles of the beer. Of course, it takes another two beers, although this phase of the process already takes place inside the bottle. The glass used should be as dark and opaque as possible.

When you have finished your beer, you will add Rocket Hop and your drink will be ready for you to enjoy with your friends or when you want to relax for a while. Remember that you can also buy ready-made beers and combine them. Or also, to do what is most practical and quick so that you do not delay the fun, buy Rocket Hop directly and enjoy it without combining it. You won´t regret!
